WASHINGTON, D.C. — A-I Policy Forum, CEO, Alex Roark, issued the following statement today following the signing of the White House Accord on Super Intelligence and the announcement of the federal Super Intelligence Force task force:
“While today’s White House Accord signals an important recognition of the stakes surrounding frontier AI, relying on voluntary pledges and corporate promises in the face of compounding cyber threats is a dangerous gamble. Voluntary pledges alone cannot provide the market certainty or public trust needed for long-term American leadership. In order to safeguard consumers and ensure the security of our critical infrastructure, Congress must act by codifying these commitments into an effective federal framework that includes independent oversight, robust consumer protections, and clear standards of responsibility for both model developers and deployers. To maintain our competitive edge, American innovation requires the backing of clear statutory authority to provide the stable foundation our digital economy needs to win.”
