Ernesto Apreza
Ernesto Apreza is a strategic communications and public affairs expert who currently leads Amazon’s Climate Pledge (TCP) initiative in Latin America. TCP is an ambitious private sector commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040. As part of this effort, Ernesto helps drive a global, cross-sector coalition of companies working together to accelerate decarbonization and climate innovation.
Previously, Ernesto served in the Biden-Harris Administration as Press Secretary to the Vice President, where he was a central figure in shaping the administration’s public messaging around transformational policy, including the safe and ethical advancement of artificial intelligence. As the Vice President’s chief spokesperson, he led high-level media strategy, crafted narratives on emerging technologies, and ensured that issues of equity and access remained core to how AI policy was communicated to the public.
Before that, as Senior Advisor for Public Engagement at the White House, Ernesto led national outreach to Latino and immigrant communities, advising senior administration officials on public engagement strategies during a pivotal time of digital and technological transformation. His efforts helped bridge the gap between government policy and community impact.
Ernesto’s experience spans high-stakes communications roles across the public, private, and political sectors. From managing rapid-response crisis communications at Amazon, to directing messaging for the Mayor of Seattle during the COVID-19 pandemic, to serving as Colorado State Director for Biden for President, he has consistently worked at the intersection of policy, public trust, and innovation.
With a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, advising national leaders, and navigating complex public narratives, Ernesto is a trusted voice on both climate action and AI transformation—two of the most urgent challenges of our time.
He holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
